The Problem

Women from disadvantaged backgrounds often lack access to formal employment or vocational training. Many are economically dependent on male family members, making them vulnerable to financial instability and social inequality. Without skills, women are restricted to low-paying, informal work, if any. Furthermore, societal barriers and a lack of financial literacy impede entrepreneurial ventures.

Program Overview

The Livelihood Program aims to economically empower women from marginalized communities by equipping them with vocational skills, business training, and confidence to achieve financial independence. The larger goal is to promote gender equity, boost family incomes, and foster sustainable development at the grassroots level.

Solution

The Helping One Foundation offers a variety of free vocational training courses, including tailoring, embroidery, and beauty services. Along with skill development, participants receive financial literacy training, entrepreneurship mentorship, and guidance on how to access micro-finance options. The Foundation also organizes exhibitions where women can showcase and sell their products, helping them gain real-world business experience.

Achievement

The Livelihood Program has successfully trained over 100 women, many of whom have launched their own businesses or found employment. Training has not only increased family income but also boosted self-esteem and social standing for participants. The Foundation has created a supportive network where women mentor
each other and share opportunities, leading to community-wide change.
